Hug Point is such a great name for a beach! There used to be a road that ran right along the water front but has been abandoned. Not sure why, could it be global warming has raised the water level too high? :-) In any case it's now a hiking path and the geography along this part of the coast is spectacular - especially up close like I was while taking this pic. Hug Point is on the central Oregon coast, a few miles south of Cannon Beach. The day I visited there was a wedding on the beach! If you continue walking past the tall rocks in this pic you'll find another section of the beach. Up against the hill is a secluded area, enclosed on three sides and well-shielded from the wind. Watch the tides though. You could get stranded for a few hours! (taken with Canon PowerShot SX150)
